LFC and LEXSEWS
The Lexington Fashion Collaborative was established in the summer of 2009. The organization’s Co-founder Soreyda Benedit-Begley, collaborated with designers, models, photographers, makeup artists, stylists, and other community partners to create the first Future of Fashion show in Lexington, KY. Since that first show in May 2009, the collaborators have been working hard to continue the tradition that the first show put into place and to build upon the mission of creating support, increasing awareness, and education for the fashion community.
The Lexington Sustainable Education and Workforce Solution (LEXSEWS) project is designed to initially provide refugees living in Lexington and other participants with multidisciplinary educational opportunities that promote self-sufficiency through professional sewing courses which incorporate literacy, English language, and interpreter assistance. Soreyda is directly involved in the developing of this project.
